Relaxing weekend around town

After I got back from New Orleans and Brian got back from a bachelor party in Martha’s Vineyard, we just wanted to have a relaxing weekend. So, here’s what we did…

On Friday after work, we ventured over to the little-known neighborhood of Tangletown for dinner at the Burgundian Tavern - a sister restaurant of Brouwer’s, which is located right near our apartment in Fremont. Now, I don’t normally give in depth restaurant reviews, but this place was phenomenal – perhaps one of our best dining experiences to date in Seattle. For starters, the food and drink were fantastic. After enjoying some brews at the bar while we waited for a table, we moved on to a flight of cider from Sea Cider Farm and Cider House all the way from British Columbia. For dinner, I ordered the burger (one of the best I’ve had) and Brian got the seafood pot special, which consisted of mussels, shrimp, scallops and fish. Mmm! In addition to great food, the service was top notch – not only were the hostess, the bartender and our waitress super friendly and helpful but we even had the chef come out to greet us as well as a representative from Sea Cider Farms. The literal and figurative icing on the cake was that our waitress even brought us out a complimentary slice of bread pudding with bourbon sauce. We were having so much fun, we stuck around for another round of beers – Moose Drool, this time – before reluctantly heading home. We will be back – and soon!

On Saturday, we decided to play a round of golf at our local par 3 course, Interbay Golf Center, since it was nice and sunny. We had a blast and both did pretty well, but I’m proud to say that I’m the only one who made par on one of the holes! We spent the rest of the afternoon lounging around the apartment before moseying down to the canal for some wine and cheese in lieu of a real dinner. We always mean to spend more time on the water since it’s just a block from our apartment. So relaxing!
