I’m thankful for…

Chris and Michelle (and my new fiancé Brian too, of course)! For Thanksgiving this year, my friends from home Chris and Michelle who are currently living on the West Coast – Newport Beach, California and Anchorage, Alaska, respectively – came to Seattle to celebrate! Here’s what we did:

Wednesday – Chris flew in early in the afternoon so we kicked things off by prepping for our Thanksgiving feast and once Brian got back from skiing at Crystal Mountain, we headed over to Amber in Belltown for some appetizers and drinks while we waited for Michelle’s flight to land. Once Michelle arrived, we drove over to lower Queen Anne for a quick drink at Ozzie’s before heading to Ballard for dinner at People’s Pub, a fantastic German restaurant. We continued the tour of Seattle by swinging by ski lodge themed Woodsky’s in Fremont, which evidently hosts goldfish races every Tuesday night according to the Google search I just did to find their website. So random, we’ll have to go back to check that out!

Thursday – We started our Thanksgiving off right by sleeping in and making a delicious breakfast. Of course, the guys insisted on watching football but expertly seasoned the turkeys in between plays. Throughout the afternoon, we all snacked on some appetizers and fun cocktails while preparing for the main meal, which we ate around 5:30 PM. After enjoying our Thanksgiving meal, we made some more festive cocktails, played some games and had a fun evening in the apartment. It’s not Thanksgiving unless you spend the whole day eating and wearing sweatpants and we certainly succeeded on both fronts!

Friday – Chris and Brian got up early to go skiing at Mt. Baker, which is where we went last weekend and had so much fun. Michelle and I had a lazy morning hanging out at the apartment before heading out to run some errands and walk around Pike Place Market (I was most excited about getting the mini donuts that are little drops of heaven, Michelle was more pumped for the Beecher’s famous mac ‘n’ cheese)! We met back up with the fellas and relaxed around the apartment before walking across the canal to The Ballroom for some of the biggest pizza any of us had ever seen – 28″ across! Brian stashed the leftovers behind a random building so we could watch live music at Nectar Lounge. The main act, Slow Dance, was pretty impressive! After retrieving our leftovers, we wandered back home and proceeded to almost finish the rest of the pizza.

Saturday (Michelle’s birthday) – Chris, a Virginia Tech graduate, made us watch the Hokies football game. Michelle and I were too tired to protest, but we both agreed that we ended up watching more football this weekend than we normally do all year. When the game ended (Virginia Tech won, by the way), it was time to take Chris to the airport. After we dropped him off, the three of us headed to Capitol Hill where we walked around for a bit and stumbled across an amazing pub, DeLux Bar and Grill, which had fantastic hot toddies! For dinner, we hit up Jamjuree for some Thai food. Then, we ventured back to our apartment for some delicious birthday cake and presents!

Unfortunately, the fun came to an end early Sunday morning when I dropped Michelle off at the airport but we had an absolutely fabulous Thanksgiving with our two good friends! Hope everyone else did too!
